Sempai Hope began her karate journey at just 7 years old. Today, she is a Second Dan Black Belt and has recently stepped into kickboxing, continuing to push herself to new levels

She is currently in Year 12 and has her sights set on joining the Navy or Airforce a goal that reflects her discipline, ambition and commitment

Hope represented NSW on the State Team for two years and won Gold at Nationals in Synchronised Kata twice

She embodies focus, resilience and quiet determination the kind that is built through years of showing up and doing the work

Entries for the NSW State Team close today and we have 10 amazing students and teachers who are trying out

1. Sensei Shaylan - She started karate when she was 9 years old. When she was 14 to 17 she said she’d never compete again and hated sparring 🤣 If Sensei Shaylan makes it on the team this will be her third year

2. Kohai Max - He has been training with us for just over 3 years. He is 16 and aiming to achieve his Black Belt within the next year. This will be Kohai Max’s second year on the team and this year he is part of a synchro kata team

3. Charlotte - She is going for her Second Dan Black Belt this March and has been on the state team for the last two years. She is currently at UTS studying Mechanical Engineering

4. Julian - He is one of our veteran athletes. This will be his second year on the team. Julian is a landscaper & gardener. He has been training for over 5 years

5. Ben - This will be Ben’s first year of State Team. He is part of the synchronised kata team too. Ben has been training at BBMA for 5 years
